What Should I Expect?
How should I dress?Of course, dress should be modest. Other than that, we don't care! At the First Church of God, there is no dress code. There is nothing more respectful of God about any particular way of dressing. We want you to feel comforable, so come as you are! You'll see some of our people wearing ties, some wearing suits, and some dressed in more casual attire. We emphasize relationships, not fashion. So . . . you never have to worry, "Am I dressed right?"
What is our worship music like?
Our worship music for the most part is a blend of contemporary Christian songs and hymns lead by a worship leader and a LIVE band. A couple of times a month our choir shares a beautifully presented special selection.
What am I expected to put in the offering plate?
Other than your welcome tab, NOTHING! We honestly don't want guests to feel obligated to give any money to our church. Our members and regular attenders are responsible to meet the financial needs of the church. We don't pressure people to give. We let God lead people who feel they are a part of the church family to give according to His will for them.
Why are some people raising their hands?
Some raise their hands in worship as an act of submission to God. The people raising their hands aren't trying to get anyone's attention. They are simply offering their lives to God and receiving joy from Him. The Bible encourages believers to lift holy hands to the Lord. This simple act illustrates their unique style of worship, their love for God and dependence on Him.
